The Royal Hawaiian opened in 1927 and has a rich history as it is built on the site of Royal residences. It stands overlooking the world famous Waikiki Beach and has strong connections with Hawaiian culture, which guests can enjoy on a daily basis. Service at the Royal Hawaiian is exceptional as is the quality of its restaurants and other activities. Bridal couples are welcomed like Royalty at the Resort and treated as such throughout.

Room Types

There are 526 rooms and suites in the Royal Hawaiian. Those in the Historic Wing are classically elegant with a plush style with wallpaper, rich fabrics and beautiful dark wood furniture. This has been the style of the hotel since it opened in 1927. Accommodation in the Mailani Wing is more contemporary in design with the clever use of wicker, rattan and bamboo to accentuate the tropically coloured highlights. All the rooms/suites in the Mailani Tower have a furnished balcony – lanai- with beautiful views of the ocean. All the rooms have been designed with comfort in mind. All are carpeted throughout and have large windows making them light and bright. There is a living area with comfortable chairs, a flat screen TV with cable channels, iPod docking station, tea and coffee making facilities, a ceiling fan plus air conditioning. The stylish bathrooms are in brown marble and have either a walk-in shower or deep soaking bathtub. Gowns and luxury toiletries are provided. There is free Wi-Fi throughout.
  • Historic Ocean Suite

    This room is elegant with classic embossed wall paper and dark wood furniture. There is a comfortable sitting area with armchairs and a king size bed with quality linen. The en suite bathroom has either a bath or shower.
  • Historic Ocean Deluxe

    This beautiful room is classically decorated with dark wood furniture and highlights in the hotel's theme colour of pink. The large picture window overlooks Waikiki Beach and there is a comfortable living area next to it with sofa and armchairs plus a table and writing desk – the perfect backdrop to your romantic Hawaii honeymoon. A low decorative wall divides the room and in the other section here is a king size bed and elegant bathroom.
  • Historic Ocean Club

    This delightful suite is beautifully furnished and overlooks Waikiki Beach with the beautiful ocean beyond. There is a spacious sitting room with sofa, armchairs and writing desk and in the separate bedroom there is a king size bed and reading area. The stylish brown marble bathroom has either a bathtub or walk-in shower. Guests in this suite enjoy access to the Historic Club Lounge.
  • Historic Ocean Room

    Traditionally styled and very peaceful, this delightful room has 28sqm of floor area, which includes a living area and attractive bathroom with either a bath tub or shower.
  • Historic Garden Suite

    With beautiful views over the tropical gardens, this attractive suite (82m²) has a spacious living room that is classically decorated with comfortable seating and a dining table and chairs. The king size bed is in a separate bedroom with stylish en suite marble bathroom.
  • Historic Garden Junior Suite

    Enjoying the serenity of the tropical gardens, this stylish suite has 44m² of floor space and is very comfortable for your honeymoon. There is a generously sized living area, beautiful bedroom area with king size bed and the elegant brown marble bathroom has either a bathtub or walk in shower.
  • Mailani Tower Premier Ocean

    Situated on floors 8-17, these contemporarily styled rooms are really attractive. With 33m² of floor space, they are decorated in soft neutral tones to promote relaxation and they have some highlights in colourful tropical shades. Inside there is an attractive living area with comfortable seating and a beautiful king size bed and en suite bathroom. Step outside from the huge sliding windows, there is a lovely private balcony furnished with table and chairs that has the most stunning view of Waikiki Beach and the ocean beyond.
  • Mailani Tower Ocean Corner

    Spacious and beautifully designed in relaxing neutral shades with a vibrantly coloured wall painting by a local artist, this is the perfect place to relax together on your romantic Hawaii honeymoon. Outside, the private balcony has table, chairs and a chaise longue, which can be enjoyed throughout the day. The sliding windows lead inside where there is a comfortable living area, king size bed and en suite with twin vanity basins and colourful mosaic decoration that mirrors the colours off the ocean.
  • Mailani Oceanfront Suite

    Light, bright and beautifully styled for comfort, this spacious suite has a separate bedroom and living area. Both are decorated and carpeted in creamy hues with tropical highlights provided by the local paintings that decorate the walls. The living room has sofa, armchairs and a dining table. Outside, the furnished balcony offers great views of Waikiki Beach and the azure ocean for the most romantic backdrop for your honeymoon.
  • Mailani Tower Loft Suite

    This suite offers the perfect romantic hideaway for two and some essential pampering provided by its luxury furnishings. On the lower level, the suite has a lovely living area with teak furniture, with a sofa and comfortable chairs that leads out to a beautiful lanai – balcony – that is spacious and comfortable with a rattan sofa, armchairs and table and huge verdant plants. Inside on the second level is the bedroom with king size bed and a palatial bathroom with steam shower with decorative mirrored wall and large vanity unit – some bathrooms also have a bath tub.
  • Ali'i suite

    If you are looking for very special honeymoon accommodation, this suite is expansive, elegant and very luxurious as its name suggests – Ali'i in Hawaiian means 'king'! There is a beautiful balcony with oversized day bed for two and expansive views from Diamond Head Crater across the twinkling Pacific to Barber's Point. Floor to ceiling sliding windows lead into the living area which has a sofa, arm chairs, coffee table and writing desk and a separate and very elegant dining table and chairs plus fully equipped kitchen. There is a master bedroom with beautiful teak wood bed and glamorous en suite bathroom.
  • King Kamehameha Suite

    Named after the king whose residence was where the Royal Hawaiian Resort stands today, this suite is truly spacious and luxurious. Its main feature is its beautiful lanai - balcony - that is like an outdoor living room with stunning views of Diamond Head Crater and the beautiful Pacific. There is a rattan suite with sofa and armchairs and a dining table and chairs for al fresco meals. Inside, the soft furnishings are vibrant in bold graphic kapa patterns in the traditional Royal colours of red and yellow including the cover of the magnificent four-poster bed. The stylish bathroom has a relaxing deep soaking tub with sea views!

Facilities

Situated right on the arc of the iconic Waikiki Beach, water activities are high on the list of most people's 'must dos' and Royal Hawaiian is in perfect location to enjoy the plethora of water activities such as parasailing, catamaran cruises and snorkelling. Surfing is also a fun activity for you both to enjoy on your Hawaii honeymoon and lessons are available for those who would like to have a go.

For golf enthusiasts there is a selection of six good courses in the locality.

If you want to immerse yourself in Hawaiian culture there are classes for flower lei making (garland making) and Hawaiian quilting and shell bracelet making. Hiu Wai is a very special traditional cleansing ceremony that takes place at sunrise by the ocean every Friday. Participants are encouraged to bathe in the healing water of Waikiki

If you simply want to relax together, the Royal Hawaiian has two pools – the quiet Malulani Pool and the livelier Helumoa Pool. There are spacious sun terraces and there is the chance to book a cabana for two. There is a Jacuzzi by each pool to enjoy. Other relaxing activities include the daily yoga sessions and treatments in the Resorts beautiful spa.

Restaurants

Every meal is an occasion at the Royal Hawaiian. The chefs at the Resort prepare every dish perfectly using the freshest locally grown ingredients and their presentation skills are exceptional. As well as a wonderful selection of restaurants the Resort has its own bakery, which has a tempting array of pastries and breads – including the resorts highly acclaimed Banana Bread!

There is the option to enjoy a fabulous meal served in the privacy of your room/suite.
  • Azure

    This world-class restaurant perches above Waikiki Beach with beautiful views of the Pacific. Luxuriously furnished and tables set with gleaming silver and glassware it is the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. The menu is fresh with locally caught fish on the menu.
  • Surf Lanai

    This upscale terrace restaurant nestles under a sea of colourful sun umbrellas and has rattan chairs and glass topped tables. Casually elegant, the menu in this delightful restaurant features world classics and contemporary Hawaiian dishes.
  • Mai Tai Bar

    Also nestling outside under giant sun umbrellas, Mai Tai is the perfect place to relax over a drink and enjoy a variety of snacks. Every evening it is the venue for live Hawaiian music to dance away the night on your Hawaii honeymoon.
  • Aha'aina Luau

    Every Monday and Thursday evening, a traditional Royal Hawaiian feast is held, reminding everyone what the Resort stands on Royal grounds. As well as a magnificent selection of traditional dishes to enjoy, there is an evening of great entertainment with a variety of music, dancing and much more!
