OVERVIEW

Fiji is a picturesque island nation in Melanesia, in the South Pacific Ocean. Consisting of 333 breath-taking isles drenched in golden sunshine, Fiji is supposedly the happiest place on Earth, according to the official tourism website – and when you go there, you are sure to be very happy indeed, thanks to the excellent range of accommodation, the friendly locals, the stunning scenery and the amazing activities you can try during your stay.

A popular wedding and honeymoon destination, there is so much to see and do in Fiji, whether you are interested in having plenty of action and adventure, or just want to kick back and relax on a white-sand beach with a cocktail at your elbow. More outdoorsy holidaymakers may want to check out Adrenalin Fiji’s exciting range of activities, such as snorkelling tours of the Mamanuca Islands or surfing at the best spots in the country. You may also want to charter a yacht from one of the reputable local operators and take half-day or full day tour of the islands, or perhaps try a spot of game fishing courtesy of Fish N Trips.

For a more unusual honeymoon experience, go on a day trip and visit Monuriki Island, part of the Mamanuca Islands; this is where Tom Hanks filmed his poignant movie Cast Away. Staying on the island of Viti Levu? Why not head to Beqa Lagoon, where you can go diving and meet the local tiger shark population. You might also want to go rafting or kayaking on the Navua River, before ending up in the vibrant capital of Suva for a delicious evening meal.

Amazing scuba diving can also be enjoyed on the Rainbow Reef, off the shores of isles such as Taveuni and Vanua Levu, a lush emerald island which is sure to appeal to those who want to get off the beaten track and explore somewhere relatively ‘un-touristy’.

Back on Viti Levu, you can experience an unforgettable taste of local culture by booking yourself onto the Navua River Village and Kava Ceremony Tour, which includes a tranquil boat trip up the river to Nukusere Village, where you can take part in a traditional ceremony and then enjoy a delicious Fijian lunch – a memorable experience you are sure to cherish.
