When is the Best Time to Visit Singapore?
Singapore is one of the best destinations to visit in Southeast Asia, thanks to its historic culture, fascinating traditions, and great safety for tourists. With a tropical climate that persists throughout the year, you should be prepared for the hot weather and humidity regardless of when you choose to visit.
The best time of year to visit Singapore is very much down to personal preference. As this island country is located on the equator, you never have to worry about packing extra layers as it’s always pleasantly warm – even during the winter.
However, most visitors try and avoid the Monsoon season, so prefer to book in December and June when the weather is more settled.
Visiting Singapore in January
With temperatures averaging at 24 degrees and falling in the rainy season, January is wet and muggy, so be sure to bring an umbrella to prevent getting soaked while exploring. On average, January has 12 days of constant rain. If you’re keen to steer clear of showers, there are plenty of activities to do indoors such as a visit to the designer shopping malls on the famous Orchard Street.

Much the same as January, February remains in the rainy season with temperatures averaging 24 degrees. There are approximately 10 days of rainfall throughout the month, so be sure to pack waterproofs and an umbrella!

The northeast monsoon starts to fade in March, so conditions are drier but still very unpredictable. Be wary of the occasional afternoon shower. Thanks to the calm after the storm, March is one of the best months to visit Singapore’s gardens and vegetation.

Visiting Singapore in April
With April marking the start of spring, fog is common during the mornings but typically clears come noon. Temperatures are slightly warmer, with averages of 27 degrees and rainfall is only occasional.
This is a great time of the year to head to Marina Bay, where you’ll discover shops, museums, and waterparks. Additionally, you could spend an afternoon at Gardens by the Bay nature park or check out rare wildlife at Singapore zoo.
Visiting Singapore in May
May is one of the hottest months in Singapore, with average highs of 33 degrees and lows of 26 degrees. Yet, the fire season of Sumatra causes a change in the atmosphere, as the whole of Singapore is overcome with smoke and haze.
If the intensity of the sun gets too much, leave the city and head to the Botanical Garden to cool off and enjoy the glorious nature.

With the Southwest Monsoon on its way, June is another month of unpredictable weather, with soaring temperatures, humidity, and frequent thunderstorms.
Do be aware that this is one of the busiest months of the year due to the local school holidays, as well as key events such as the Singapore Food Festival and the Dragon Boat Festival.
Visiting Singapore in July
The dry, hot weather is still very much in play during July, with average temperatures of 25 degrees. The school holidays are still in force, you can expect busier crowds than usual in the main tourist areas.
Visiting Singapore in August
August is much quieter in Singapore as the school holidays come to an end, and as such, you can enjoy cheaper rates. Temperatures average at a scorching 30 degrees but be prepared for sporadic showers while out exploring.
During this month, don’t miss Singapore’s National Day – a celebration that marks the city state’s independence which falls on the 9th of August each year.
Visiting Singapore in September
September marks the start of autumn in Singapore, but temperatures only increase to highs of 32 degrees.
One of the country’s biggest events happens during this month – the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix, where the circuit around Marina Bay becomes flooded with tourists and racing fans.

October falls in the inter-monsoon season and therefore, temperatures are slightly cooler, making the city-state much more pleasant and comfortable to explore. Do be prepared for the occasional thunderstorm during the afternoon and early evenings.

November marks the beginning of the new monsoon season, so you can expect torrential rainfall on most days, as well as scorching temperatures and high humidity levels.
This is the month of Deepavali – the Indian festival which celebrates Lord Ram’s triumph over Ravana.

December is one of the wettest months of the year, yet, Singapore gets extremely busy around the festive season, so be sure to book travel and accommodation well in advance. Lights, carnivals, and markets flood the city-state during this time of year and note that the most popular attractions will also be busier than usual.
