Leanne’s Holiday To Las Vegas

Nicknamed the ‘Entertainment Capital of the World’ Las Vegas is like no other city in the world, with impressive hotels offering you a flavour of around the world experiences. Our marketing Executive, Leanne, explores the glitzy Las Vegas strip on her recent holiday attending a family wedding, stepping into miniature cities from around the world, from Venice to New York and taking a trip downtown Las Vegas!

Planet Hollywood

“I stayed at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in an Ultra Hip non-Smoking room and we were located on the 50th floor, the views were incredible! Even though the view wasn’t directly of the strip, at night it was spectacular as the city lit up! One morning I managed to wake up early to see the beautiful sunrise straight from my bed! Our room was spacious with a large bathroom with vanities, a bathtub and walk-in shower. The location of Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino is excellent, the Bellagio is opposite and you can see the fountains from outside!”

The sky ceiling in the mall makes you feel as though you are outside and at night it lights up! There’s a rainstorm show on with lightning, fog and pouring rain, which happens at the top of the hour Mon – Thur: 10am until 11pm and Fri – Sunday: every half hour from 10am until 11pm.”

“We had breakfast at Café Hollywood and the food portions were absolutely huge. I ordered oatmeal with all the toppings (the bowl was as big as my face and I couldn’t finish half of it!) and my boyfriend had pancakes with maple syrup and only managed to eat half the portion – we could definitely have shared our breakfast!”

Gordon Ramsay Burger

“On our first night in Las Vegas we had a meal at Gordon Ramsay’s Burger place in Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, I’m a big fan of Gordon Ramsay so I was so excited to try his burgers! I had the vegetarian Portobella Burger and the chips with curry sauce – which was absolutely amazing! My boyfriend ordered an off-the-menu special burger.”

The Wedding

“My sister in law got married at a chapel off the strip, near Fremont Street. The ceremony was intimate and lovely, with a terrace gazebo for the wedding and it was a stunning day with no cloud in sight.”

Bellagio

“The Bellagio is a stunning hotel, its famous Bellagio Fountains are gorgeous and you can walk all the way around the fountains, which was a relaxing stroll in the sun and overlooks Paris with the Eiffel Tower and the High Roller in the backdrop.”

“Inside the Bellagio is beautiful, with sophisticated and elegant décor, even the casino looked sophisticated! We visited the Gallery of Fine Art at Bellagio, which had Samurai: Armor From The Ann And Gabriel Barbier-Mueller Collection. On our way out of the Bellagio we stopped by the Conservatory, which is near the entrance of the hotel and it was beautiful, with Japanese style flowers and installments – although it was quite busy it was a lovely experience in the heart of Vegas!”

The Linq

“We took a stroll further down the Strip and saw the Flamingo hotel, which is Las Vegas’ first ever luxury hotel! Inside there’s a garden area with real flamingos! We took a detour down to the Linq and the side streets towards the High Roller, which has branded and boutique shops, an Irish bar and cool dining options – we also saw Gordon Ramsay’s Fish & Chip shop!”

The Venetian

“The most anticipated hotel on my list was to see the Venetian and the gondola rides. The Venetian exceeded my expectations, from the moment you take the escalator up to the hotel you see the stunning canals and the water is bright blue and so picturesque! It’s a lovely place for honeymooners to visit, as it’s so romantic – as you ride on the gondola, the gondolier sings to you as you glide through the canals. You can also find Madame Tussauds here!”

“Inside is just as beautiful, with Italian décor, with painted ceilings and gold features, the grand Canal Shoppes have the same sky ceiling feature as the Miracle Mile and the shop exteriors are styled like a scene from St Mark’s Square. Dining and shopping can be done as you go around the canals and the shops on offer include designer outlets and artistry boutiques. We went passed a lovely store, which has a range of stunning Disney themed pieces with Swarovski gems! There’s also a store with masquerade costumes and masks!”

Fremont Street

“We took a taxi to Fremont Street from our hotel, which cost about $30. Fremont Street is where Las Vegas originated and it certainly has kept its old charm. Fremont Street has quirky eateries and a vegan options, too! There’s even a restaurant there called ‘Heart Attack Grill’ in which you get a free meal if you weigh over 350lbs!!!”

“We visited in the afternoon and saw the Golden Nugget hotel, which is located on Fremont Street! There are two stages in the street with live music and as the sun goes down the lights start to come on and the vibe gets livelier as the night commences. Fremont Street is far away from the glitz of Las Vegas and its so exciting to see how Las Vegas started – you’ll find so many unique things here such as zip lining the street form top to bottom on the SlotZilla Zip Line and The Walking Dead Experience, where zombies jump out at you! The Mob Museum can also be found in Fremont Street, just off a side road and we visited this, there’s a new cellar that has been installed in the museum and after you’ve gone around 3 floors of artefacts and information all about the history of how Vegas started.”

New York New York Hotel

“This hotel was by far my favourite to visit, as I’ve always wanted to visit New York. There’s a replica of the Brooklyn Bridge and inside is designed like the streets of New York! We visited the Herseys Store, which had a Statue Of Liberty made entirely from chocolate! We ate here twice a Gonazalez Y Gonzalez and at America Restaurant – the food was really good! We loved playing at the Casinos at New York New York Hotel, I won $204 on the slot machines!!”

Luxor & Excalibur

“We had a meal at Camelot Steakhouse in Excalibur and booked a private dining room for a group of 9. This was a lovely restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and the food was delicious. The pasta portions were absolutely huge and so was the steak! After our meal we went to Luxor next door. Luxor is shaped as a pyramid and hotel rooms are actually in the pyramid building! Luxor has some great shows to watch including the Michael Jackson show and the Titanic exhibit with actual artefacts from the ship – this is a must see!”

Weather in April

“I visited Las Vegas in April 2018 and the weather was hot! The sun was out each day and it got as high as 30 degrees. All indoor areas are air-conditioned and there’s so many places to grab a refreshing frozen cocktail or cool beer! There’s even a robotic cocktail bar!”
