OVERVIEW

Ajman is a hidden gem, measuring just 260 square kilometres, yet only a thirty-minute drive away from bustling Dubai. The smallest and least known of the seven Arab Emirates, you won’t find skyscrapers here. Ajman is beautiful and so much quieter than its neighbours, so honeymoon couples will be guaranteed a romantic and relaxing time.

There’s a fabulous selection of luxury hotels to choose from in Ajman like the beachfront resort, Fairmont Ajman and the upmarket hotel, Oberai Beach resort, Al Zorah. It also has a variety of restaurants and shops spread along the coastline. Its beautiful beaches, stunning mountain backdrops and glorious weather makes Ajman a dream honeymoon destination.

The beaches in Ajman are exceptional and are perfect for soaking up the sunshine, while the water lapping the shoreline is warm and crystal clear. There are two public beaches in Ajman, the Al Hamriya Beach and the Al Zorah Beach. However, each hotel has its own slice too, so you’ll be able to step out from your hotel without walking far, and land right onto the beach.

A trip to the Arabian desert to spot native wildlife like oryx and gazelle is a bucket-list must. You will be picked up directly from your hotel and taken into the desert by Jeep for either a gentle off-road adventure or, for the more energetic, why not try a spot of dune bashing. If you decide to choose to take an evening safari you will get to stay overnight in an authentic Bedouin camp. For the nature lovers spend time at the Al Zorah Nature Reserve where you will find pink flamingos and mangroves as well as 60 different species of birds.

For couples who like walking or hiking, you can take a gentle amble up the foothills of the Hajar Mountains. It’s a beautiful trail and although it’s difficult, it’s perfect for beginners. Walk through shady palm plantations and take in the spectacular mountain views. If however, you both want to learn about the rich culture and heritage, then there’s no shortage of historical sites in Ajman like the Ajman Museum, which is a must to visit or seeing the Arabian horses at a stud farm. Another great spot to visit is the Ajman Dhow Building Yard where you can experience the art of traditional dhow making and see the dhow wooden sail boats.

Furthermore, Ajman contains a number of parks and mosques to admire as well as gold souks and shops at Ajman Corniche. In addition, if you love golf Ajman has only one golf course, the Al Zorah Golf club where you can play and spot some of the birds in the reserve.

During your stay, if you fancy a bit more hustle and bustle, couples can venture to Dubai and soak in the atmosphere and buzz of city life. There’s plenty to see and do here apart from browsing the plethora of shops. For the more adventurous, you can take a helicopter tour across the skyscraper skyline, admire the view from the top of the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world), or skydive 13,000 feet off the Palm Jumeirah!

To turn your honeymoon into a UAE multi-centre adventure, why not combine Ajman with the other neighbouring emirates places like Dubai or Ras Al Khaimah. However, you can also combine the UAE with the Maldives or Mauritius, its perfect for a city and beach honeymoon of your dreams.
