Looking to embark on an Italian adventure for your honeymoon? Why not jet off to Lake Garda in the heart of Northern Italy positioned directly in the centre of Milan and Venice. Home to Italy’s largest lake, Lake Garda is one of the most popular regions in the country for honeymooners looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life. The region is characterised by towering mountains, sparkling crystal waters and historic towns to explore at your own pace. You may even be surprised to know that Lake Garda is an extremely popular beach destination. While there is no ocean, the lake shores make for perfect small beaches to kick back and relax, while the lake’s calm waters are great for a spot of swimming.

If you head to the south of the lake, you’ll be near Milan and Verona so you can head off on a city day trip if you wish. Sirmione is a great base on the lake for visiting nearby cities but is also a great tourist town in its own right that’s just waiting to be explored. It’s most commonly recognised by its charming Roman ruins and the iconic Rocca Scaligera – a medieval castle offering first-class views of the lake.

On the eastern side of the Lake, you’ll come across the towns of Bardolino and Garda which are considered the most popular tourist resorts in the region. If you’re heading to the area during the summer, don’t miss out on Bardolino’s annual wine festival which is a widely celebrated occasion with locals and tourists alike. Venturing north of the lake and the landscape becomes more mountainous. Within this area, you’ll discover the historic towns of Torri del Benaco and Malcesine
